We work extremely hard to keep overhead costs as low as possible, and put your money to work for children and adults in rural Tanzania.

It costs $35,000 a year for the Jifunze Project to support our Community Education Resource Centre in Kibaya, Tanzania, serving a district wide population of 20,000 children and adults. It costs us $1,000 to send a young girl through primary school, $2,000 to send her through secondary school, and $4,000 to allow her to receive post-secondary school vocational training. All gifts to the Jifunze Project are tax deductible and can be designated for a specific program or directed to where the need is greatest. With your help, we will continue to enrich lives across rural Tanzania with the gift of education.

Financial Contributions

In addition to cash donations, there are avenues available for matching gifts through your place of work, gifts of appreciated stock, and planned gifts. These are all explained in more detail below. There are two options for making a tax-deductible contribution to our work: secure online giving or the old-fashioned check-in-the-mail method.

Matching Gifts

Many businesses and corporations match, dollar for dollar, employee donations to the charity of their choice. Some businesses match gifts of retired employees and of employee spouses. Some employers also make financial contributions as a match for volunteer hours contributed by employees to the charity of their choice. Please check with your employer to see if your contribution to The Jifunze Project can be matched.

Wills & Planned Gifts

The Jifunze Project can be named a beneficiary in your will, and receive other deferred gifts and life insurance. These gifts are not subject to estate taxes. To learn more about charitable giving through a will or from an estate, consult LEAVE A LEGACY at www.leavealegacy.org.

Sponsor a Student

Are you interested in sponsoring a girl or young woman to achieve an education? There are a variety of options available, based on your financial ability and desired length of commitment. Please note that we only offer full scholarships for students, guaranteed to allow them to complete their schooling, as it is incredibly discouraging for a student to commence their studies and then be forced to abandon them due to a lack of funding.

• Post-Secondary School professional training scholarship
2 year commitment of $4,000

• Secondary school education scholarship
4 year commitment of $2,000

8-9 year commitment of $1,000

• Computer training course scholarship
4 week commitment of $100

In Kind Donations

We shipped a 20 foot container of books, computers and educational resources to Tanzania to enrich our educational resource center in Kiteto District. Many thanks to all those who participated in helping us get this together, as well as the hundreds of individuals who gave us donations.

While we are no longer accepting large scale in-kind donations, smaller items that can be carried as airline luggage may be appreciated. Items such as, desktop computers (the computer only, no monitor, keyboard, etc.), educational children's toys (torso models, ant farms, games, etc.), and science experiment equipment. If you have an item that you feel might be beneficial for our work, please check with us (info@jifunze.org) before sending it along. Thanks!
